The weather is changing, so you know what that means….new lipstick colors! NYX Cosmetics launched their Liquid Suede Lipstick collection about a year ago. I picked up two shades (Brooklyn Thorn & Jet-Set) as soon as they came out and I fell in love with the formula.
During a recent trip to Ulta, I saw that NYX was having a 30% off sale, so I racked up!
As a woman of color, I always love to get an idea of what lipstick shades may look like on my skin tone before I purchase, so I decided to film a lip swatch video for you guys!

Today I want to share my latest DIY project with you. In a previous post , I showed you guys these DIY framed letters that I made for my daughter’s room.
Now that my goddaughter, Skylar, is getting her own room soon, I just HAD to make sure that she had some customized wall art! I mean, a Princess room really isn’t a Princess room unless her name is displayed proudly above her castle, right?
Luckily, I had enough time to film the entire project this time so I could show you guys how I did them from start to finish. Most of the items are from Hobby Lobby, Dollar Tree, and Walmart! Click the video below to watch the tutorial!
Not only is this a very easy and inexpensive to add decor to a child’s room, you could also use these letters as wall art in a family room, classroom, or office. Hmmm, I’m getting more ideas as I type! Let me know what you guys think of this project!
Today I want to share my nail secret with you guys…I wear press on’s! Only I think I do a pretty good job at not making them look like press on nails. After getting acrylic nails religiously for years, last Fall I finally decided to take them off for a training class. To my surprise, after removing the tips, my real nails and nail bed were severely damaged. It took me 4-6 months before my nails grew past my skin and even then they were VERY brittle.
After getting acrylic nails religiously for years, last December I finally decided to take them off for a training class. To my surprise, after removing the tips, my real nails and nail bed were severely damaged. It took me 4-6 months before my nails grew past my skin and even then they were VERY brittle.
Moving forward I attempted to opt for a better solution- gel nails. Only everytime I went to the nail salon, the technician tried to convince me that the powder + liquid duo that he was pulling out (before I even told him what I wanted) was a “gel-powder“. 🤔🤔🤔 How could it be a gel if it was a powder, you ask? Yeah me too, that’s when I got myself up out of that chair and swore off nail salons.
My only problem is that I really actually enjoy tips and the cool sound they make when tapping against my keyboard.😔 It sort of makes me feel sophisticated, you know.
I decided that I was going to try and do them myself. I do remember wearing press-on nails back in school, you know the kind that popped off every other period? Yeah, those. I knew I was taking a chance with this press-on situation but I decided to try it out anyway.
To my surprise, my nails came out pretty darn professional looking, and the best part is, they last for about a week! Very cheap, very low maintenance, and very EASY to do! Check out the tutorial below!
